This past month or so has been eventful. I’ve had many excellent commissions, but I also had a bout of food-born illness (for the second time this year, ooph) and finally caught my first case of covid. It’s been a rollercoaster of peaks and valleys. My covid experience has been, thankfully, mostly uneventful. It’s been like having a lingering cold. My one complaint would be that my energy level has stayed muted for a surprisingly long time. I think I’m basically fine, but I still find myself feeling worn out by mid-afternoon. Since my couch time has exponentially increased during this covid time, I’ve got a longer-than-usual list of diversions.
Anyway, I’ve been:
Planning a trip to Ireland for October, and while this cottage availability didn’t line up with my travel dates, I’m bookmarking it for some future time.
Getting excited to visit Doolin, a really small town in Ireland near the Cliffs of Moher.
Fangirling over the beautiful woodblock print work by Hasui Kawase and potentially hoping to see some of his work at this shop during some future Japan trip.
Also planning a trip to Poland for next summer, partially because I bought Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets but also to make up for a canceled 2020 trip.
Doing this squigs hair oil mask because I have lots of time and little energy.
Inspired to think of fitness as a long-term pursuit and trying to maintain an easy stretch routine, though that is only aspirational now.
Battling an eczema flare-up and I finally found a gentle enough shampoo and face cream to use regularly without exacerbating my skin woes.
Taking environmental portraits of artists for Luxe Magazine.
Photographing Chicago a bunch this summer, and it’s been exciting to see some of that work finally out in the world.
Diversions is a newsletter I’ve been on and off writing since 2014 with random thoughts I’ve been stewing on and links I’ve been sharing. These days you can find diversions on substack.
Till next time,
Sandy Noto
